Andrea Gagliano is a Senior Data Scientist responsible for building ML/AI to fuel new products for creatives at Getty Images in Seattle, Washington. Previously a designer of ML tools at Apple, she works closely with UX designers keeping the user at the heart of her ML/AI models to inspire, encourage, and support the end creative experience. Caring deeply about harmful biases caused by ML/AI, she leads education of data scientists, engineers, product designers, and business leaders across Getty Images on building ethical AI products. Andrea studied at UC Berkeley’s School of Information and Center for New Media where her graduate research investigated machine learning in creative acts including poetry and painting. Her work in computer generated poetry won an award in Dartmouth’s PoetiX Turing Test competition. She has spoken at conferences and universities on AI ethics and AI for creativity, including Stanford, USC, and Eyeo.
