Amey Porobo Dharwadker has over a decade of experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), both from an academic and industrial standpoint. He works as a Machine Learning Technical Lead at Meta (Facebook), where he leads the Video Recommendations Core Ranking team responsible for developing personalization models used by billions of users around the world. In addition to his technical contributions, he mentors several Machine Learning engineers and data scientists, helping set vision, strategy and direction for executing large cross-functional projects. His work is instrumental in driving the remarkable growth in active users for Facebook, by powering the success of Facebook Watch, reaching more than 1.25 billion monthly users. Prior to that, he delivered significant user engagement and revenue growth for Facebook through advancements in News Feed and Ads Machine Learning. He has also served on the program committee for several top-tier international machine learning conferences and journals in the fields of recommender systems and deep learning. Additionally, he has been featured in prominent technology publications to provide expert insight and advice on AI and ML. As a thought leader, he has mentored multiple students, ML engineers, data scientists and early-stage companies through his presence at hackathons, angel syndicates and startup accelerators. He has also served as a judge for prestigious global technology competitions, including the Edison Awards.
